How Hand Gesture Tracking Works

Tunevate uses your device’s webcam and client-side computer vision to track 21 hand landmarks in 3D space with sub-millisecond precision. Here is how your hands shape chords, melodies, and sound parameters:

Left HandStep 01

Select Scale Degree & Chords

Raise 1 to 5 fingers on your left hand to play diatonic piano chords: 1 finger plays the Tonic (I chord), 2 plays Supertonic (ii chord), 3 plays Mediant (iii), 4 plays Subdominant (IV), and 5 plays Dominant (V).

Tip: Tilt your left wrist upward or downward to toggle between Major and Minor chord voicings.
Right HandStep 02

Inversions, 7ths & Octaves

Use your right hand to dictate the piano chord inversion and color: 1 finger plays root position, 2 fingers plays 1st inversion, and 3 fingers adds a lush 7th note.

Tip: Extend your thumb out to drop the chord down an octave (-12 semitones) for deep piano bass resonance.
Both HandsStep 03

Sustain & Dynamic Expression

Notes continue sustaining seamlessly while hand shapes are maintained. Toggle the virtual sustain pedal in the dock to let chords ring freely.

Tip: Raise or lower your right hand vertically to adjust playing velocity and acoustic resonance dynamically.
